The Aggship is a small local sport media team. They cover Utah State University Athletics and just them, with the exception of previews of the conference they are in and the opponents they face.

Their brand functioned well before, however they didn't have much to work with when it came to growth and outreach. Their identity worked for where they were but didn't align with where they were going.

The initial project was just to update their website. But, after evaluating the website, we found that refreshing the brand would prove more successful and increase visitors and traffic on their website, thus increasing subscribers, followers, and readers.

Since this project didn't start out as a brand Identity project, we needed to point out the pain points in the current logo and how the adjustments could help in those specific areas. When we initially started this project, the client was hesitant. However, after we hopped on a call and discussed each point. The decision was simple.

Even though we were moving forward with an identity refresh, there were somethings that needed to stay. Colors. They could be revamped, but they needed to stay. Blue, Navy, Yellow, Orange, Silver.

Why? Well these colors have specific ties to the USU basketball stadium, The Spectrum. Basketball is one of the more popular sports covered by The Aggship.

Because they are a media outlet, they need to connect to their customers. They need something recognizable. The mountain range graphic with the colors is what allows them to become unique, yet approachable.

When this project all came together, the brand truly started to feel like a real brand. It is now feeling cohesive and each part of the brand, from the website to the twitter to the podcast, all feels like the same brand instead of three seperate entities.

This is just the beginning of the application, I truly believe that the success they will see will manifest in continued growth in subscribers and a deeper loyalty to their brand over other outlets that offer similar sport coverage.
